David H Jones
David H Jones came to Warwickshire in 1968 and set about building a music service for local schools by running courses for teachers and directing music workshops for children all over the county.
The response was most encouraging and the formation of The Warwickshire Singers, as a teachers’ choir, became part of the process.
A man of many talents
As well as being an accomplished pianist, bass player and choral director, David has written a great deal of music for groups of all kinds, most of which has been specially arranged to highlight the strengths of the group but also to stretch their potential.
His love of creative projects has been nationally acknowledged in his ‘Let’s Make a Masque’ project for schools which celebrated the tercentenary of the births and music of Handel, Bach and Domenico Scalatti.
He has also been involved with adjudicating the Barclay Music Theatre Awards.
Opera Advisor to the Arts Council
Now retired, David still takes an active interest in choral and creative work in his local primary school and as opera adviser to the Arts Council.
