About The ChoirThe Warwickshire SingersWarwickshire Singers is a mixed chamber choir committed to taking music to towns and rural communities throughout WarwickshireOur first concert was in 1969 – and we still give 3 or 4 every year! Since then, the Singers have rehearsed on a weekly basis, toured about and extended membership to any singer from any profession who is prepared to offer a firm commitment to our activities.
A repertoire to suit all tastesThe choir’s repertoire is wide, ranging from the 16th to 20th Century, including English and other church music, madrigals, partsongs of Britain and other nations, music of the great composers as well as lesser-known ones, sometimes sung ‘a capella’.
International connectionsWe tour in Malta and in France and regularly combine with the Villanelle de Sceaux, a French choir based in Leamington’s twin town. Our last visit to France was in May 2000, when we took part in the French town’s Millennium celebrations, joining with our French friends as well as a German male voice choir in a collection of pieces entitled “Cantate Pour La Paix.”
The most recent trip abroad was a fantastic week in the Czech Republic - with 4 concerts and lots of sightseeing and socialising too! Our weekly meetingsWe meet on Mondays from 7.45 p.m. to 9.30 p.m. at Kenilworth Methodist Church, Priory Road.
